History of Angareshwar Mahadev
The original name of this temple was Mangleshwar Mahadev. The Shivling here is unique because it is not oval-shaped, but made from a simple natural stone.
According to local beliefs:
- During the rule of Aurangzeb, there was an attempt to destroy the temple.
- When the army tried to break the temple, something miraculous happened.
- It is believed that fire (angara) started coming out from the temple, creating fear among the soldiers.
- Even the emperor experienced this strange event and was shocked.
- After this incident, he stopped the destruction and ordered the temple to be preserved.
- Some parts of the temple were later rebuilt, and signs of this history can still be seen today.
