How to Reach Jaisalmer from Vadodara
You can reach Jaisalmer by bus, train, or flight.
However, if you are looking for comfort and flexibility, I highly recommend going by bus.
By Bus (My Choice)
I booked my ticket through RedBus, which was very convenient.
There’s no need to book months in advance or worry about Tatkal tickets.
A Vadodara to Jaisalmer AC Sleeper Bus usually costs between ₹2000 to ₹3000 per person.
The journey is long but comfortable, and you can enjoy scenic desert views on your way. Same Process for return Ticket.
From Jaisalmer City to Sam Dunes
Once you reach Jaisalmer, you’ll need to travel to Sam Sand Dunes — about 40 km away.
You can book a shared taxi from Jaisalmer city to Sam Dunes or directly to Zostel Sam Dunes for around ₹500 per person.
⚠️ Tip: Some local drivers may quote higher prices, so don’t forget to bargain.
Stay at Zostel Sam Dunes
Check in at Zostel Sam Dunes, Jaisalmer, one of the best hostels in the desert.
The rooms are clean, the vibes are bohemian, and the price is pocket-friendly, starting at just ₹800 per person per night.
You can have lunch at Zostel (around ₹500) or try nearby local restaurants for cheaper options and authentic Rajasthani flavors.
Desert Safari on Budget
Zostel offers a Desert Safari package for around ₹500, which includes jeep rides and dune exploration.
Avoid booking expensive packages that include camel rides and meals — you can easily manage them yourself.
You can enjoy a camel ride for just ₹50 if you bargain a little with local guides.
In the evening, relax and enjoy Rajasthani cultural dance performances at Zostel under the starry sky — it’s magical!
Exploring Jaisalmer City
Next morning, book a shared taxi again for around ₹500 to return to Jaisalmer Fort.
Check in at Zostel Jaisalmer (Inside the Fort) — one of the most unique hostels in India, with rooms starting from ₹600 per night per person.
After freshening up, step outside and explore the fort area on foot. Everything is nearby!

Day Trip to Longewala & Tanot Mata Temple
On the next day, rent a scooty (₹400) or a car (₹1000) and head to:
Longewala Border & War Memorial – experience the bravery of Indian soldiers.
Tanot Mata Temple – feel the divine energy and attend the evening aarti by the Indian Army. It’s a truly spiritual and patriotic moment!
